SLC REALTORS Give to Habitat for Humanity
The Salt Lake Board of REALTORS® recently presented a check for $5,000 to representatives of Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity, an organization committed to eliminating substandard housing.
“This donation is made possible through special interest bearing accounts established by the Utah Division of Real Estate,” said Bill Heiner, president of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®. “As home buyers make earnest money deposits into escrow accounts, the interest generated is given to the community to support the development of affordable homeownership opportunities for low income individuals and families.”
The $5,000 will be used to purchase equipment and material for three homes under construction at the Southgate Park subdivision in South Salt Lake City. Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity has completed 78 homes since 1986, when the chapter was organized.
“Every day the number of families in need of safe affordable housing increases,” Tagliaferri said. “Caring organizations like yours make our efforts to secure land and building materials possible. Through this kindness, we will be able to provide stability and security for hard working, low income families. This hand-up approach has proven to be a local and global success. Thank you for helping families in our community achieve the dream of home ownership.”
